The Effects of Health Promotion Education Program on Cadets of A.F.N.A. Using the K-WIFY Model

Abstract
|
|
|
Purpose： This study was to investigate effects of ’Health Promotion Education on Cadets.’ We carried out the program on Health Promotion Education by utilizing the K(Korea)-WIFY Model, which is one of the educational programs related to health promotion.
Method： The subjects consisted of 92 freshmen of the A.F.N.A. The period of experiment was from 17 July to 20 July 2005. Data were collected before and after the program. Frequency, percentage, chi-square test and paired T-test with the SPSS program were used to analyze the data.
Result： 1. Significant factors on health which the cadets of the AFNA had recognized under the guidance of K-WIFY Model were classified into 21 categories. 2. Consequences from analyzing the contents of appreciation throughout the K-WIFY Model have indicated that the educational effects after discussion proved to be fruitful, in that 19 of the total 38 cadets, who account for 50 percent of all cadet participants, had a positive influence. 3. Cadets participated in the Health Promotion Education program utilizing the K-WIFY Model in the group experiment and indicated the following: sense of self-efficacy (p=.000), the sense of self-esteem(p=.000), the social support (p=.028). Also, with respect to perceived barriers, there was little decrease.
Conclusion： In conclusion, this study showed that the Health Promotion Program conducted utilizing the K-WIFY Model was able to enhance the cadet part icipan t s’ recog n ition on heal th mat ters, sense of self-efficacy, sense of self-esteem and social support, In addition, it was effective in reducing perceived barriers(what barriers?
